Helenite

Helenite was another name for the Mount St. Helens emerald obsidianite gems and originally referred to gems offered
in a fiery red hue created by removing copper and adding a gold powder to the gem during its purification process.

The Helenite name eventually came into popular use referring to Mt. St. Helens gems of any color through promotions
on home shopping networks.

Helenite now is commonly used in reference to any gems not created under the trademarked "Emerald Obsidianite"
label.

Our Mount St. Helens Jewelry is created by artisans using both trademarked "Emerald Obsidianite" and the generic
"Helenite" brand and the un-branded process referred to simply as "Mount St. Helens Emeralds".

Regardless of the name given these Helenite gems they are similar in both creation and beauty.
